Women's Basketball: In the San Diego State Thanksgiving Classic in San Diego, the Frogs lost to BYU, 61-58, on Friday, November 23, to fall to 3-1 on the year. Kianna Ray led the Frogs with 15 points. Lauren Head had 12 points, Amy Okonkwo 11 and Jordan Moore 10. On the 24th, the Frogs beat host San Diego State, 81-64, to improve to 4-1. Ray scored 23 points, Moore 17 and Okonkwo 12. TCU will plays its final road game of 2018 on November 29, at Oxford, Mississippi, as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Frogs play Ole Miss. The Frogs fell out of the top 20 after suffering their first defeat, 73-64, to Lipscomb on Tuesday, November 20. TCU plays Central Michigan on Friday, November 30 (6:30 pm, Fox Sports Southwest), in Fort Worth Worth, then they play at SMU, on Wednesday, December 5 (9 pm, ESPNU), and at USC on Friday, December 7, in the Staples Center, in Los Angeles (8:30 pm, FS1). Volleyball: TCU freshman volleyball player élan McCall was a unanimous selection to the recently announced All-Big 12 First Team and the All-Big 12 Rookie Voleyball Team. Senior Anna Walsh was named to the All-Big 12 First Team. Sophomore Tori Dilfer earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors. TCU finished the 2018 volleyball season with an overall mark of 15-12, with seven wins in league action.
Soccer: TCU women's soccer player Yazmeen Ryan was named to the United Soccer Coaches' All-Midwest Region first team. Messiah Bright was selected to the second team. Karitas Tomasdottis was named to the third team. Earlier, Ryan had earned first-team All-Big 12 honors. Bright had been named second-team All-Big 12 and named to the Big 12 All-Freshman squad. Tomasdottir was named second-team All-Big 12. The team made history this year, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Track and Field: TCU Track and Field has signed Jenea Spinks, to start with the 2019 spring semester, and Keiley Sharp and Simbarashe Maketa to the 2019-2020 signing class. Spinks comes to TCU as a sprinter from Trinidad. Spinks brings a personal-best 11.45 mark in the 100m. Maketa comes to TCU as a sprinter from Zimbabwe, where he has been one of the top African sprinters in the last year. He brings a Zimbabwe Junior record time of 20.95 in the 200m. Maketa will be TCU's third athlete from Zimbabwe, joining All-Americans Chengetayi Mapaya and Timotenda Matiyenga. Sharp comes to TCU as a javelin thrower from Kofa High School in Yuma, Arizona, where she was a state champion in the javelin. She was the No. 6-ranked javelin recruit in the nation and holds a personal-best throw of 150' 8", which is an Arizona state record. In addition to the javelin, Sharp was an Arizona state bronze medalist in the high jump, reaching 5'5". Beyond track and field, she was a multi-sport athlete in high school, lettering and earning All-Region honors in volleyball and basketball. Sharp was named 2018 Yuma Female Athlete of the Year.
