ESPN College GameDay on Saturday, November 10: ESPN's College GameDay will be in Boston, Massachusetts, on Saturday, November 10, for the ACC matchup between #2-ranked Clemson and #22-ranked Boston College. The game will kick off at 7 pm Central and will air on ABC. GameDay airs from 8 to 11 am Central on Saturdays on ESPN.

TCU-West Virginia Rivalry:

  • TCU and West Virginia joined the Big 12 together on July 1, 2012. 
  • TCU and West Virginia are facing each other for the eighth time.
  • The Horned Frogs hold a 4-3 series lead. All but one meeting has come since the schools began Big 12 play together in 2012.
  • Prior to 2012, the only previous game between TCU and West Virginia was a 31-14 Mountaineers' win in the 1984 Bluebonnet Bowl at the Astrodome in Houston. The Frogs were in the Southwest Conference. The Mountaineers were a football Independent.
  • The road team won the first three meetings in the Big 12 series with each game decided on the final play. The home team has won the last three games.
  • TCU is 2-1 versus the Mountaineers in Morgantown, 2-1 in Fort Worth and 0-1 at neutral sites (1984 Bluebonnet Bowl in Houston).
  • TCU head coach Gary Patterson is 4-2 versus West Virginia.

TCU-West Virginia Connections: 

  • TCU and West Virginia began Big 12 play together in 2012.
  • TCU co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie has ties with West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen. Holgorsen was Texas Tech’s inside receivers coach when Cumbie was a quarterback for the Red Raiders (2000-04).
  • There are three players from Texas (Katy, Keller and Waco) on the West Virginia football roster. 
  • There are no players from West Virginia on the TCU football roster.

TCU Notables:
  • TCU will leave the state of Texas for just the second time this season when it travels to play West Virginia on Saturday, November 10.
  • Having played five home games in addition to contests in Dallas, Arlington and Austin, the only previous time this season the Horned Frogs left the state was an Oct. 27 date at Kansas.
  • Saturday will mark Gary Patterson's 50th game against a ranked opponent as the TCU's head coach. He has a record of 25-24 in those contests.
  • TCU's senior class will be playing its 50th game and has a 32-17 mark.
    TCU is one of just five programs nationally to finish in the top 10 of the final polls at least three times in the last four seasons. The others are Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
    Patterson's18 seasons as TCU's head coach are more than the combined tenures of the 11 other FBS head coaches in the state of Texas.
    Under Patterson, TCU has posted seven top-10 finishes and 11 in the top 25.
  • The Horned Frogs have won at least 11 games in 10 of the last 15 seasons.
  • In the Kansas State game last Saturday, November 3, TCU scored for the 329th consecutive game. It's the nation's second-longest current streak and fourth all-time in NCAA history. The Horned Frogs haven't been blanked since November 16, 1991, at Texas (32-0).
  • Over the last five seasons, TCU (44-18, 28-14) has the Big 12's second-best overall and conference records.
  • Patterson has accounted for 25.2 percent (163-of-674) of TCU's all-time football victories.
    Three of TCU's losses this season are to teams ranked in the AP top 15: Oklahoma, Ohio State and Texas. The Horned Frogs held second-half leads against the Buckeyes and Longhorns. TCU also led in the fourth quarter against Texas Tech and Kansas.
  • TCU has held its nine opponents below their season total offense averages.
  • TCU's 38 road wins since 2009 are third in the nation. The Horned Frogs are 38-13 (.745) in that stretch.
  • TCU's 45-20 record (.692) in road and neutral-site games since 2009 is the nation's sixth-best mark.
  • TCU is 17-13 on the road in Big 12 games.
  • Eight of TCU's last 19 Big 12 road games have been decided by seven points or less. The Horned Frogs are 5-3 in those games.
  • Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU is 8-6 in conference road games decided by seven points or less.

TCU Injuries: TCU continues to deal with injuries, especially to key players. About 40 Horned Frogs have dealt with significant injuries this season, with about 20 being season-ending injuries. Quarterback Shawn Robinson is out for season-ending shoulder surgery. Safety Innis Gaines suffered an injury in the Texas Tech game. He is likely out for the season. Safety Niko Small re-injured himself in the Kansas game. His status for the rest of the season is unknown. Linebacker/defensive end Ty Summers suffered an injury in the Kansas game. His status for the rest of the season is unknown. Starting offensive guard Cordel Iwuagwu suffered an injury in the Texas game. His status for the rest of the season is unknown. Third-string defensive back Michael Onyemaobi (#22), a redshirt freshman, suffered a season-ending injury in the game against Southern. TCU defensive end Ross Blacklock suffered an injury during fall camp. He is out for the season. Freshman safety Atanza Vongor suffered a season-ending injury during fall camp.

Amon G. Carter Stadium:
Construction is underway, with completion in time for the 2019 season, on the $100 million Amon G. Carter Stadium premium seating expansion. The project calls for two new levels of luxury seating above the current upper deck on the east side of the stadium. The new Legends Club and Suites will include 48 loge boxes with two private clubs, over 1,000 club seats and 22 luxury suites. Additional information about The Carter: here

Have Fun Tailgating at Amon Carter Before and After the Football Games: Donor parking lots open five hours prior to kickoff. For games that start before 2:30 pm Central, lots must be cleared by three hours after the game ends. For games that start at 2:30 pm Central or later, lots must be cleared 90 minutes after the game ends, or by 11 pm Central (whichever comes first, due to city ordinance).

  • Important! Security measures at TCU Athletic Events: Only the following items are permitted into TCU athletic facilities:
  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and not exceeding 14 inches by 14 inches
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • One unopened bottle of water
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bags

Exceptions are made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the stadium gates. Backpacks, diaper bags and other similar bags are not be allowed.
