Kansas Announces That Head Coach Beaty Will Not Return for 2019 Season

The University of Kansas has announced that head football coach David Beaty will not return next season. The announcement came a day after Kansas dropped to 3-6 on the season (1-5 Big 12) with a 27-3 loss to Iowa State.

Beaty will complete the season as head coach. Kansas has games remaining against Kansas State, Okahoma and Texas. If KU wins all three of those games, the Jayhawks would qualify for a bowl game.

Kansas' shocking 27-26 win over TCU on October 27 in Lawrence was not enough to save Beaty's job. Beaty is 6-39 in three-plus seasons as Kansas' coach and 2-31 against Big 12 teams.

This season's three wins are the most the Jayhawks have managed since Charlie Weis' last season in 2014. Beaty is under contract through 2021. He will be owed $3 million.
