TCU-Oklahoma State Rivalry:

  • TCU is playing Oklahoma State at home for just the third time in its seven seasons in the Big 12. Upon entering the conference in 2012, TCU inherited Texas A&M's league schedule in which the Aggies owed the Cowboys an extra home game. TCU played at Oklahoma State in consecutive seasons in 2012 and 2013, before hosting the Cowboys for the first time in 2014.
  • Behind a career-high 160 yards rushing and three touchdowns by Darius Anderson, TCU posted a 44- 31 win over No. 6 Oklahoma State in Stillwater last season.
  • Oklahoma State holds a 15-11-2 edge in the all-time series with TCU.
  • TCU is 6-5-2 versus Oklahoma State in Fort Worth, 4-8 in Stillwater, 1-1 in a pair of meetings (1943, 1946) in Oklahoma City and 0-1 in Dallas (1945 Cotton Bowl).
  • TCU and Oklahoma Lite have played 28 times. The Cowboys have won 15 times, TCU 11 times. There have been two ties. The first game was played in 1915; Oklahoma State won by the unlucky score of 13-0. Oklahoma Lite beat TCU in the 1944 Cotton Bowl, 34-0.

TCU-Oklahoma State Connections:

  • The game will feature the all-time winningest coaches at both schools. Patterson has 165 victories at TCU. Mike Gundy has 120 wins for OSU.
  • TCU defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Chad Glasgow was a three-year letterman (1991- 93) at linebacker for Oklahoma State. He was also a graduate assistant (1994-95) under former head coach Bob Simmons.
  • TCU co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach Curtis Luper played at Oklahoma State (1984- 87) before returning to Stillwater as a Cowboys' assistant coach (2005-08).
  • Oklahoma State defensive analyst Chris Thurmond was a TCU defensive backs coach in 1995 as well as 1998-2000, Gary Patterson's three seasons as the Horned Frogs' defensive coordinator before becoming head coach. Thurmond was also Houston's interim head coach when it faced TCU in the 2007 Texas Bowl
  • Oklahoma State has 46 players from Texas on its roster, including four from Fort Worth: Tylan Wallace (#2) and Tracin Wallace (#4), South Hills; Shaun Taylor (#18), All Saints Episcopal; and Truett Knox (#54), Aledo.
  • TCU has one player on its roster from Oklahoma: junior cornerback Keenan Reed (#4), of Tulsa.

TCU Notables:

  • Over the last five seasons, TCU (45-19, 29-15) has the Big 12's second-best overall and conference records.
  • TCU is one of just five programs nationally to finish in the top 10 of the final polls at least three times in the last four seasons. The others are Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
  • Gary Patterson's 18 seasons as TCU's head coach are more than the combined tenures of the 11 other FBS head coaches in the state of Texas.
  • Under Patterson, TCU has posted seven top-10 finishes and 11 in the top 25.
  • The Horned Frogs have won at least 11 games in 10 of the last 15 seasons.
  • Patterson has accounted for 25.4 percent (165 of 649) of TCU's all-time football victories.
  • Despite five starters and numerous others sidelined by injury, TCU ranks No. 1 in the Big 12 in total defense (350.3 yards per game).
  • TCU is a plus-5 in turnover margin over the last three games.
  • Jalen Reagor tops the Horned Frogs with 64 receptions for 970 yards and eight touchdowns. He needs 30 yards to become just the fourth player in TCU history to reach 1,000 yards in a season.
  • Reagor has a touchdown catch in six consecutive games, tying Josh Doctson's TCU record from 2015.
  • In just two seasons, Reagor is tied for fifth in TCU history with 16 touchdown catches.
  • The Horned Frogs are 85-21 in 18 seasons under head coach Gary Patterson at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
  • TCU has reached a bowl game in 18 of the 20 seasons Gary Patterson has been on campus, including 15 of his 17 years as head coach.
  • The Horned Frogs are 44-8 in home night games under Patterson.
  • The Horned Frogs are playing their 10th game in the state of Texas this season. TCU has already played five home games, in addition to contests in Dallas, Arlington, Austin and Waco. TCU left the state only twice in 2018.
  • Nine of TCU's last 21 Big 12 road games have been decided by seven points or less. The Horned Frogs are 6-3 in those games. Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU is 9-6 in conference road games decided by seven points or less.
  • Four of TCU's losses this season are to teams ranked in the CFP top 20: No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 9 West Virginia, No. 10 Ohio State and No. 19 Texas. The Horned Frogs held second-half leads against the Buckeyes and Longhorns. TCU also led in the fourth quarter against Texas Tech and Kansas.
  • TCU has held 10 of 11 opponents below their season total offense averages and seven under their season scoring mark.

TCU Injuries: TCU continues to deal with injuries, especially to key players. About 40 Horned Frogs have dealt with significant injuries this season, with about 20 being season-ending injuries. Second-string quarterback Michael Collins and running backs Darius Anderson and Sewo Oloilua were injured in the Baylor game and are doubtful for the Oklahoma State game. Starting senior defensive tackle Joseph Broadnax didn't play in the West Virginia game and isn't expected to play again because of an undisclosed medical condition initially discovered during a preseason screening. Quarterback Shawn Robinson is out for season-ending shoulder surgery. Safety Innis Gaines suffered an injury in the Texas Tech game. He is likely out for the season. Safety Niko Small re-injured himself in the Kansas game. His status for the rest of the season is unknown. Linebacker/defensive end Ty Summers suffered an injury in the Kansas game.
