Week 7 TCU Sports Athletics News Summary




TCU 2019 Baseball Schedule:  TCU Baseball's 2019 schedule features 54 games -- 28 home contests, 20 road games and six neutral site match-ups. A road-heavy start to the schedule will see the Horned Frogs play 11 of the first 16 games of the season away from home. TCU will open the season in Scottsdale, Arizona, at Salt Rivers Park in the MLB Collegiate Baseball Tournament, with games against Cal State Fullerton, February 15, Virginia, February 16, and Vanderbilt, February 17. The Frogs home slate begins February 19, against Abilene Christian. A three-game series against Grand Canyon follows, February 22-24.

The Frogs again will take part in the Shriners Hospital for Children College Classic at Minute Maid Park, with games against Houston (March 1), Texas A&M (March 2) and Rice (March 3). TCU then will head to California for four games; a three-game series at Long Beach State, March 8-10, and at San Diego, March 12.

Big 12 series at homes include: Texas, March 22-24; Oklahoma State, March 29-31; Baylor, April 26-28; Kansas, May 10-12; and a regular-season concluding series against Texas Tech, May 16-18.

At Lupton, the Frogs also will play: Stephen F. Austin, March 5; Eastern Michigan, March 15-17; UT Rio Grande Valley, March 26; UTA, April 2; Dallas Baptist, April 9 and 23; Seton Hall, April 12-14; and Lamar, May 14.

The Frogs also will play UTA in the Texas Rangers' Globe Life Park on Tuesday, March 19.

The Big 12 baseball tournament  will be held at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, Oklahoma City, May 21-26.

TCU Volleyball: In Fort Worth, the TCU volleyball team beat Texas Tech on Saturday, October 8, 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19). The Horned Frogs improved to 11-5, 3-2 Big 12.

TCU Rifle: In Fort Worth, the TCU women's rifle team beat the Coast Guard 4,668-4,516 on Sunday, October 7. On Saturday, October 6, the Horned Frogs beat the Coast Guard 4,703 to 4,505. TCU improved to 3-0 in matches this season.

TCU Women's Soccer: In Norman, the TCU women's soccer team beat Oklahoma 1-0, in double overtime, on Friday, October 5. The Horned Frogs' Yazmeen Ryan scored TCU's lone goal. Goalkeeper Emily Alvarado made five saves to register her second straight shutout. The shutout was TCU's eighth of the season, tying the school single-season set on five other occasions (1998, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017). The Frogs improved to 9-3-2, 2-2-1 Big 12.
