ESPN College GameDay on Saturday, October 27: ESPN's College GameDay will be in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday, October 27, for the SEC East match-up between Florida and Georgia. The game will kick off at 2:30 pm Central and wil air on CBS. GameDay airs from 8 to 11 am Central on Saturdays on ESPN. This is the first time that College GameDay will visit Jacksonville since 2005 for the Georgia-Florida game and the fourth time in the history of College GameDay. Florida has won the previous three times College GameDay has been on hand for the Georgia-Florida game (1999, 2002, 2005).

TCU-Kansas Rivalry:

  • TCU holds a 22-8-4 edge over Kansas in a series dating back to a 41-6 Horned Frogs' win in Fort Worth in 1942.
  • In 1952, the NCAA sold the exclusive rights to broadcast a weekly, national collegiate football game to NBC for $1.14 million. The first game shown under the contract was TCU against Kansas on September 20, 1952, in Lawrence, when Dutch Meyer was TCU's head football coach. Kansas won, 13-0.
  • Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU has won all six meetings with Kansas. Before last season's 43-0 victory, each game had been decided by 14 points or less and by a combined total of 35 points.
  • TCU is 10-6 versus the Jayhawks in Lawrence, 10-2-2 in Fort Worth and 2-0-2 in the four games (1944-47) played in Kansas City.
  • A 20-6 TCU victory at Kansas in 2012 marked the Horned Frogs' inaugural Big 12 game.
  • Prior to TCU beginning Big 12 play in 2012, the schools had not met on the gridiron since a 17-10 KU victory in Lawrence in 1997, the year before head coach Gary Patterson arrived at TCU as defensive coordinator.

TCU-Kansas Connections:

  • Up until a couple of weeks ago when he was fired, Kansas' offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach was Doug Meacham, who was TCU's co-offensive coordinator and inside receivers coach from 2014 to 2016.
  • KU co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach Kenny Perry was TCU's cornerbacks coach in 2014, after serving as the Horned Frogs' director of high school relations in 2013. Perry previously was the head coach at Arlington Bowie High School.
  • Patterson was born in Larned, Kansas, and lived in Rozel, Kansas. Patterson went to Pawnee Heights High School and Dodge City Community College, before attending Kansas State.
  • On the Kansas football roster there are 24 players from Texas, including one from Fort Worth: Senior safety Emmanuel Moore (20), from Northwest High School.
  • On the TCU football roster, there are no players from Kansas.

TCU Notables:

  • Going into the Oklahoma game, TCU was No. 1 in the Big 12 in total defense, scoring defense, third-down defense, passing defense, passing efficiency defense and red-zone defense.
  • TCU is one of just five programs nationally to finish in the top 10 of the final polls at least three times in the last four seasons. The others are Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

  • For the Kansas game, TCU will board an airplane and leave the state of Texas for the first time this season when it travels to Kansas for Saturday's game. TCU Injuries: Quarterback Shawn Robinson is out for what apparently is season-ending shoulder surgery. Safety Innis Gaines suffered an injury in the Texas Tech game. He is likely out for the season. Safety Niko Small suffered an injury in the Texas game and has not played since. His status for the Kansas game is unknown. Other defensive backs also are injured. Their status is not known for the Kansas game. Starting offensive guard Cordel Iwuagwu suffered an injury in the Texas game and has not played since. His status for the Kansas game is unknown. Third-string defensive back Michael Onyemaobi (#22), a redshirt freshman, suffered an apparent season-ending injury in the game against Southern. TCU defensive end Ross Blacklock suffered an injury during fall camp. He is out for the season. Freshman safety Atanza Vongor suffered an injury during fall camp that apparently will cause him to miss the season.

2018 Game 9 for TCU: TCU will play Kansas State on Saturday, November 3, in Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, Texas. Kickoff will be at 2:30 pm. FS1 will broadcast the game.

Here is the 2019 TCU football schedule, which features an away game at Purdue, a home game against cross-town rival SMU, a Thursday night road game against Kansas State, road games at Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, and a Friday night home game against West Virginia on the Friday after Thanksgiving:

Amon G. Carter Stadium: Construction is underway, with completion in time for the 2019 season, on the $100 million Amon G. Carter Stadium premium seating expansion. The project calls for two new levels of luxury seating above the current upper deck on the east side of the stadium. The new Legends Club and Suites will include 48 loge boxes with two private clubs, over 1,000 club seats and 22 luxury suites. Additional information about The Carter: here

Every fan who comes to a TCU home game at Amon G. Carter Stadium gets a free 24 oz Pepsi product. It is a thank you for TCU Athletics for "being the best fans in the Big 12," says Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati. Vouchers are given to fans when they enter the stadium.

Have Fun Tailgating at Amon Carter Before and After the Football Games: For Thursday night's game, donor parking lots open at 3:30 pm Central. All lots will close 90 minutes after the game ends.

Normally, donor parking lots open five hours prior to kickoff. For games that start before 2:30 pm Central, lots must be cleared by three hours after the game ends. For games that start at 2:30 pm Central or later, lots must be cleared 90 minutes after the game ends, or by 11 pm Central (whichever comes first, due to city ordinance).

Important! Security measures at TCU Athletic Events:
Only the following items are permitted into TCU athletic facilities:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and not exceeding 14 inches by 14 inches
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • One unopened bottle of water
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bags
  • Exceptions are made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the stadium gates. Backpacks, diaper bags and other similar bags are not be allowed.
