TCU senior guard Desmond Bane has been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team. Bane also has been named to the watch list for the 2020 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award.
Bane is the Big 12's top returning scorer. He averaged 15.2 points a game last season as a junior. Last season, he earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors.
Bane is one of 20 on the initial watch list for the Jerry West award, which is given by the Maismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The award is named after Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player Jerry West. The annual award recognizes the top shooting guards in Division 1 men's college basketball.
By mid-February, the watch list will be narrowed to 10 players. In March, five finalists will be presented to West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The winner will be honored at The College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy's in Los Angeles, California, on Friday, April 10, 2020.
