TCU-Kansas State Rivalry:
  • TCU and Kansas State are playing for the 13th time in their history.
  • The Horned Frogs hold a 7-5 series lead.
  • Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU has won four of its seven meetings with Kansas State. The Horned Frogs are 2-1 in Manhattan, and 2-2 in Fort Worth.
  • TCU has won its last two meetings with Kansas State and four of the past five.
  • Overall, TCU is 4-2 against Kansas State in Fort Worth and 3-3 in Manhattan.
  • TCU head coach Gary Patterson is 4-3 as a head coach versus Kansas State, which is his alma mater.
  • Prior to TCU beginning Big 12 play in 2012, the schools had not met on the gridiron since 1986.
  • The first game in the series was a 45-0 K-State victory in Manhattan in 1922.
  • After that initial game, the schools did not play until four consecutive seasons from 1983-86.
  • A 52-45 win in Manhattan in 2015 saw TCU rally from a 35-17 halftime deficit. At the time, it equaled the largest come-from-behind win (18 points) in Gary Patterson's tenure as a head coach.
TCU-Kansas State Connections:
  • TCU head coach Gary Patterson was born in Larned, Kansas, and grew up in Rozel, Kansas.
  • Patterson went to Pawnee Heights High School and then Dodge City Community College, before heading to Kansas State.
  • Patterson is a 1983 graduate of Kansas State. He was a strong safety and outside linebacker for the Wildcats.
  • Patterson is 4-3 as a head coach versus his alma mater, with all of the games having been played since TCU joined the Big 12 in 2012.
  • Former TCU women's basketball coach Jeff Mittie coaches the Kansas State women's basketball team. Mittie's son, Jordan, is a senior defensive tackle on the Kansas State football team.
  • On the Kansas State football roster, there are 19 players from Texas, including one from Fort Worth: junior defensive back Jonathan Alexander (#17), from Trimble Tech High School.
  • On the TCU football roster, there are two players from Kansas: graduate transfer quarterback Alex Delton (#16), of Hays, Kansas, and freshman linebacker Dylan Jordan, of Pittsburg, Kansas.
  • Delton was a quarterback on the Kansas State football team from 2015-18. In last year's TCU-Kansas State game, as a Wildcat, Delton had a one-yard touchdown run against the Horned Frogs. If in this game he finds the end zone as a Horned Frog, he will become the second player in TCU history to score for and against the Frogs. Josh Doctson was the first player to achieve that milestone.

Frogs Missing in Action: Wide receivers Taye Barber and Mikel Barkeley could return to game action against Kansas State. Linebacker Ben Wilson could return to game action against Kansas State. He has not been able to play this year. Linebacker LaKendrick Van Zandt was injured in the Iowa State game. He will be replaced in the Kansas State game by true freshman Wyatt Harris. TCU receiver Dylan Thomas suffered a leg injury in the Iowa State game. The injury required surgery. Thomas likely will miss the remainder of the season. Cornerback Noah Daniels suffered a season-ending injury during a summer practice session.

The Line: TCU opened as a 1.5-point favorite and now is a 3.5-point favorite. The over/under on total points scored in the game opened at 46 points. It now is 44.5 points.
