TCU Athletics News Summary




Men's Basketball: Four-star guard P.J. Fuller and four-star forward Diante Smith have committed to the Frogs as part of the 2019 class. Fuller is attending Findlay Prep in the Las Vegas area. Texas Tech, Iowa State, ULV, Florida Sate, Washington and Florida were among the other schools he had considered during his recruitment. Smith, who is from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, chose TCU over Oklahoma, LSU, South Alabama, SMU, Virginia Tech and Florida Gulf Coast.

Men's Golf: TCU and Nike will host the Nike Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, September 30 – October 2. The annual event, which rotates its hosts between TCU and Oregon, was also held at Colonial in 2014 and 2016. The field is expected to include: No. 2 Oklahoma; No. 4 Vanderbilt; No. 7 Florida; No. 13 Texas; No. 14 Stanford; No. 15 Clemson; No. 17 Duke; No. 21 USC; No. 28 Wake Forest; No. 29 Oregon; No. 33 Arizona; No. 36 TCU; No. 56 Georgia; No. 67 Ohio State; and No. 73 Washington. Nine of the 15 teams played in last season’s NCAA Championship.

Horned Frog Golf Classic:
Register for the 40th Annual TCU Frog Club Horned Frog Classic, which will be hosted at Colonial Country Club on Monday, October 15. Cost: Morning (8 am) tee time: $650 per player. Afternoon (1 pm) tee time: $750 per player. The Classic will feature a new Senior Division for those teams with all players 60 years or older. The Horned Frog Classic teed off for the first time on November 5, 1979. The presenting sponsor is Greenwood Office Outfitters. Colonial Country Club is a renowned golf course. Founded in 1936 by Marvin Leonard, Colonial has become a staple on the PGA Tour. In 2019 it will host the Charles Schwab Challenge. Register: here  

Men's Basketball: TCU's Big 12 2018-19 basketball scheduled has been announced. The Frogs will open this season's Big 12 pay on January 5 when it hosts Baylor (3 pm, ESPNU). The Frogs then play consecutive road games on January 9 against defending conference champion Kansas (8 pm, ESPN2/U) and January 12 against Oklahoma (TBA). TCU then will play three of their next four games at home, starting with West Virginia on January 15 (6 pm, ESPN/2/U). The Frogs play at Kansas State on January 19 (3 pm, ESPN/2/U) before hosting Texas on January 23 (6 pm, ESPN2/U). The Frogs will play Florida in Fort Worth for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on January 26, at 11 am. The game will be broadcast on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. The Horned Frogs, which own a 3-2 record in the Challenge, will play the Gators for the third time in its history. Florida won the previous two meetings, 77-75 on March 17, 1986 (first round, NIT), in Gainesville, Florida, and 73-61 on December 21, 1974, in Fort Worth. TCU will play back-to-back road games at Texas Tech on January 28 (8 pm, ESPN/U) and at Baylor on February 2 (7 pm, ESPN/2/U). The Frogs will face Oklahoma State in Fort Worth on February 6 (8 pm, ESPN2/U). The Frogs then play at Iowa State on February 9 (1 pm, ESPN/2/U). TCU will play five of its next seven games at home starting with Kansas on February 11 at (8 pm, ESPN/2), followed by Oklahoma on February 16 (11 am, ESPN/2/U). The Frogs will play at Oklahoma State on February 18 (ESPN/U), then host Iowa State on February 23 (1 pm, ESPN/2/U). TCU travels to West Virginia to face the Mountaineers on February 26 (6 pm, ESPN/2/U). The final two home games of the season will be against Texas Tech on March 2 (3/5 pm, ESPN/2/U) and Kansas State on March 4 (8 pm, ESPN/2). The Frogs will complete the Big 12 slate on March 9 at Texas (1 pm, ESPN/2/News). The Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Championship is March 13-16 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. TCU went 21-12 overall last season and a program-best 9-9 in the Big 12 Conference. The Frogs made postseason play for the second-straight season and earned an NCAA Tournament bid for the first time in 20 seasons. They return five regulars in the starting lineup from a team that led the Big 12 in scoring average and shooting percentage in conference games. Schedule: here
