TCU Women's Basketball: Frogs Easily Win Tournament in Cancun, Mexico

Winning a women’s Thanksgiving holiday basketball tournament in Cancun!

TCU’s women’s basketball team won the Cancun Challenge with victories over Richmond and UAB at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun.

The eighth-ranked Frogs defeated Richmond 68-52, on Thanksgiving Day. The Spiders are the defending Atlantic 10 champions.

Marta Suarzez led the Frogs with 24 points. Olivia Miles scored 19 points and Donovyn Hunter added 12 points.

TCU held Richmond to season lows in points, assists (11) and three-pointers (six).

TCU’s win over Richmond sent TCU to its to its third straight 7-0 start to a season and fourth in program history.

Suarez, Miles and Hunter teamed up for 51 points as TCU defeated UAB 82-61 to win the Cancun Challenge on Friday, November 28.

Suarez led all players with 19 points. Miles had 18 points and Hunter scored 14 points.  

With the win, TCU improved to 8-0.

It was the sixth time in the Frogs’ eight games that these three players have combined to score 50 points or more.

In fact, Miles, Suarez and Hunter collectively have tallied at least 48 points in all eight of the Horned Frogs’ wins.

TCU has started 8-0 for a third consecutive season.

The Horned Frogs’ next five games are at home, in Schollmaier Arena, on the TCU campus, in Fort Worth, Texas:
