Week 15 TCU Sports Athletics News Summary




Women's Basketball: On Sunday, December 2, the TCU women's basketball team defeated Army 63-38 in the Maggie Dixon Classic in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena on the TCU Campus. The Frogs' Jordan Moore tied her season-high with 22 points and had a team-best eight rebounds. The Classic is named after Maggie Dixon, the late sister of TCU's head men's basketball coach, Jamie Dixon. Previously, the Classic had been held in Madison Square Garden. Army was the team Maggie was coaching when at the age of 28 in April of 2006 she suddenly died of heart arrhythmia. She previously had led Army to the women's NCAA Tournament, becoming the first basketball coach in Army history to lead a men's or women's team to the NCAA Tournament, even though previous Army men's head coaches included Bobby Knight and Mike Krzyzewski. on Thursday, Nvember 29, the TCU women defeated Mississippi, 55-50, in an SEC/Big 12 Challenge game, in Oxford, Mississippi. The Frogs were led by Amy Okonkwo, who scored a season-high 19 points and had 11 rebounds. Moore tallied 15 points and hauled in 15 boards, the highest total by a Horned Frog this year. TCU continues its six-game, month-long homestand when it hosts Montana State at Schollmaier Arena on Saturday, December 8, at 1 pm Central.

Men's Basketball:
The TCU men's basketball team defeated Central Michigan, 89-62, on Friday, November 30, in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena on the TCU Campus. The Frogs were led by Desmond Bane, who scored a season-high 24 points and had nine rebounds. Kouat Noi had 16 points. Alex Robinson had his third double-double of the season and sixth of his career with 11 points and 12 assists. JD Miller led the team with 12 rebounds, which tied a season high.  TCU plays its first road game of the season, at SMU, on Wednesday, December 5 (9 pm, ESPNU), and at USC on Friday, December 7, in the Staples Center, in Los Angeles (8:30 pm, FS1).

TCU Rifle: The No. 1 ranked TCU rifle team won its final match of the fall season on Sunday, December 2. In Fort Worth, the Horned Frogs fired a score of 4,709 to finish first among four ranked teams, topping No. 6 Air Force, No. 14 Ohio State and No. 25 Georgia Southern. At midseason, the Frogs are averaging an aggregate score of 4,700, just behind West Virginia. TCU sits atop the NCAA team standings with a three-location average of 4,713. TCU begins the spring season on January 19 in Fort Worth, shooting against No. 6 Air Force and No. 14 Ohio State.


Volleyball: TCU volleyball head coach Jill Kramer has signed four athletes for the 2019 class. They are: Julia Adams, 6-3, of Plano High School in Plano, Texas, ranked No. 18 on the PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Aces list; Afedo "Smiley" Manyang, 6-3, of Everman High School in Fort Worth, Texas, ranked No. 41 on the PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Aces list; McKenzie Nichols, 5-10, of Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, ranked No. 34 on the PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Aces list; and Audrey Nalls, 6-1, Waxahachie High School, Waxahachie, Texas, ranked No. 20 on the PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Aces list.
