College Football Playoff and Bowl Schedules Announced

The College Football Playoff and bowl schedules have been announced. 

The bowl games will begin with the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl on December 19 and conclude with the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 11. 

ESPN will televise 35 of the 37 bowl games,.

Two new games, the Montgomery Bowl (December 23) and LA Bowl (December 30), join the lineup this bowl season.

The Fenway Bowl, which was scheduled to make its debut in Boston this year, will not be played. 

The Holiday Bowl, RedBox Bowl, Bahamas Bowl and Hawai'i Bowl will not be played this season because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The fate of the Las Vegas Bowl, in the new Allegiant Stadium is uncertain. A decision will be made in the near future.

Baylor Picked To Win Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball 2020-21 Title

For the first time in conference history, Baylor has been picked to finish at the top of the standings in the 2020-21 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll, voted on by the league’s head coaches.

TCU is picked next-to-last, in ninth place, ahead of only Kansas State.

Baylor finished second in the conference last season, its highest finish in program history. The team was ranked in the top five of both national polls when the season concluded early due to COVID-19. Kansas was ranked first in both polls.

Kansas placed second in the conference preseason voting. This is first time the Jayhawks have not been picked to win the regular season title since 2011-12. West Virginia, Texas and Texas Tech round out the top five. Oklahoma was picked sixth, followed by Oklahoma State, Iowa State, TCU and Kansas State.

The season is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 25.

• With 115 games played, TCU has faced Baylor more than any opponent in its history. 
• Baylor 's win in 2019 broke a four-game TCU winning streak over Baylor: 28-21 (2OT), in 2015, in Fort Worth; 62-22, in 2016, in Waco; 45-22, in 2017, in Fort Worth; and 16-9, in 2018, in Waco. 
• TCU leads the series, 55-53-7. 
• TCU and Baylor are former cross-town rivals. After being founded in 1873 in Thorp Spring, Texas, as AddRan Male and Female College, TCU’s campus moved to Waco in 1895. The name was changed to AddRan Christian University in 1889 and Texas Christian University in 1902. TCU relocated to downtown Fort Worth in 1910 when the Waco facility burned. The University then opened three new buildings on its present campus in 1911. 
• The first game between TCU and Baylor was a scoreless tie in 1899.

• Patterson is 173-73 overall in 20 seasons and 40-37 against league opponents since TCU joined the Big 12 in 2012. 
• Patterson's 173 victories are the most by an active head coach at his current school.   
• TCU is one of just seven programs nationally to finish in the top 10 of the final polls at least three times (2014, 2015, 2017) in the last six seasons. The others are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State.
• TCU had five 11-win seasons last decade, equaling the combined number of the 11 other FBS programs in Texas.

• TCU quarterback Max Duggan had a 34-yard run in the Oklahoma game. It is TCU's longest rushing play of the season.
• TCU tight end Pro Wells caught an 11-yard touchdown pass in the Oklahoma game. It was the sixth of his career, the most among current Horned Frogs. 
• TCU is averaging 23.75 points per game, which ranks ninth in the 10-team Big 12.
• TCU's opponents are averaging 30.5 points a game.
• TCU is averaging 412.25 yards per game; 147.5 yards rushing and 264.75 yards passing.
• The Frogs rank seventh in the conference in rushing offense.

• True freshman running back Kendre Miller (#33) has rushed 25 times for 137 yards.
• Redshirt freshman running back Drawin Barlow (#24) has 111 rushing yards on 23 carries. 
• Through four games, wide receiver Taye Barber (#4) is the Frogs' leading receiver. He has caught 19 passes for 206 yards and one touchdown.
• Redshirt freshman wide receiver Blair Conwright (#22) has 13 receptions for 184 yards and one touchdown.
• True freshman wide receiver Quentin Johnston (#1) has caught nine passes for 160 yards. He has one touchdown reception.
• TCU's defense has recorded five sacks, intercepted two passes and recovered two-of-four fumbles it has forced. 
• TCU's defense has given up 17 plays of 32 or more yards this season.
• Senior linebacker Garret Wallow (#30) leads TCU's defense with 36 tackles. He has five tackles-for-loss and one sack. He has forced two fumbles.
  
• Sophomore linebacker Dee Winters (#13) has 23 tackles.
• True freshman defensive end Khari Coleman (#11) has one sack and 5.5 tackles-for-loss.
  Against Oklahoma, Coleman, making his third consecutive start, had a career-high eight stops, including 3.5 tackles-for-loss and one sack. Coleman's 1.8 tackles-for-loss per game average is tops in the nation among freshmen.
• Sophomore defensive end Ochaun Mathis (#32) has one sack and three tackles-for-loss.
• Junior safety La'Kendrick Van Zandt (#20) and sophomore safety Josh Foster (#15) each has an intereption.
• Going back to the 2017 season, TCU is 24-19 overall, 15-16 in Big 12 games.
• The Frogs are 4-9 in their last 13 Big 12 games.
• Since 2018, TCU has won only eight of their last 22 Big 12 games. In 13 of the 14 losses, the Frogs have scored less than 28 points.
  

Frogs Missing in Action: Junior cornerback Noah Daniels is out for the season because of  an unspecified right leg injury he suffered in the Oklahoma game. Junior offensive guard Wes Harris suffered a broken jaw in the Oklahoma game and will miss the remainder of the season. Since the Oklahoma game, senior tight end Artayvious Lynn announced that his season is over because of an unspecified injury. Three-star freshman quarterback Eli Williams is on his way out of Fort Worth. He has entered the transfer portal. Previously, wide receivers Dylan Thomas and Al’Dontre Davis entered the portal.

Baylor Notables:

• Baylor head coach Dave Aranda is in his first year as head coach of the Baylors.
• Prior to Baylor, Aranda was associate head coach and defensive coordinator at LSU, where he had been since 2106, including a 2020 National Championship and a 2019 SEC Championship. 
• Prior to joining LSU, Aranda served as defensive coordinator at Wisconsin, 2013-2015. 
• Aranda spent the 2012 as defensive coordinator at Utah State.  Prior to Utah State, Aranda spent four years, 2008-11, at Hawai'i, the last two as the Warriors' defensive coordinator after coaching the defensive line his first two seasons.
• Prior to Hawai'i, Aranda coached at Delta State University in 2007, where he served as co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach. Following the season, he spent one month as defensive coordinator at Southern Utah before being asked to join the Hawai'i staff.
• Before Delta State, Aranda spent two years as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at his Alma mater, California Lutheran. It was his second go-around with California Lutheran after serving as an assistant from 1996-99, while finishing his degree.
• Prior to coming to Texas for the Baylor position, Aranda spent five seasons in the state of Texas, including a stint as linebackers coach at Houston (2003-04) and as a graduate assistant at Texas Tech (2000-02).

ESPN College GameDay location on October 31, 2020: ESPN GameDay will be in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, October 3, for the Big 10 battle between No. 18 Penn State and No. 3 Ohio State.
