TCU's women’s basketball team has received a No. 3 seed in the women's NCAA Tournament Region 4 (Sacramento) and will face 14-seed UC San Diego in a first-round game on Friday, March 20, in the Horned Frogs' Schollmaier Arena, on the TCU campus in Fort Worth, Texas.
If TCU advances to the second round, the Frogs will face the winner of Friday's other first-round game, between six-seed Washington (21-10) and 11th-seed South Dakota State (27-6), which will be played in Schollmaier Arena.
The winners of the two first-round games will meet in a second-round game on Sunday, March 22, in Schollmaier Arena.
The winner of the second-round game will advance to a Sweet 16 game, to be played in Sacramento, California, which also will host Elite 8 games. Other Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games will be played at Dickie's Arena in Fort Worth.
The women's Final Four will be played in Phoenix, Arizona.
TCU's men's basketball team received a No. 9 seed in the men's 2026 NCAA Tournament and will play Ohio State in a first-round game in Greenville, South Carolina. This is the first time in TCU basketball history that both the men's team and the women's team have received NCAA Tournament bids in the same season.
This will be TCU’s second consecutive appearance in the women's NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Mark Campbell, who is in his third season of leading the Horned Frogs. TCU did not make the NCAA Tournament in Campbell's first season.
This will be TCU’s 11th overall women's NCAA Tournament appearance. The Horned Frogs' nine prior NCAA Tournament appearances came in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010, under then-head coach Jeff Mittie.
TCU's overall record is 29-5. The Frogs won the Big 12 regular-season championship with a 15-3 record. It was TCU's second consecutive Big 12 regular-season championship.
UC San Diego's overall record is 24-8. With a 17-3 conference record, the Tritons won their first-ever Big West regular season title, as co-champions with UC Irvine. UC San Diego defeated Hawaii in the championship game to win its second consecutive Big West Tournament championship.
The overall No. 1 team in the women's tournament is the University of Connecticut (34-0, 20-0 Big East), which is making its 37th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Huskies are the No. 1 seed in Region 1 (Fort Worth).
The tournament's other three No. 1 seeds are UCLA (31-1, 18-0 Big 10) in Region 2 (Sacramento), Texas (31-3, 13-3 SEC) in Region 3 (Fort Worth) and South Carolina (31-3, 15-1 SEC) in Region 4 (Sacramento).
TCU is one of seven Big 12 teams to be included in the 2026 NCAA Basketball Tournament. The six other Big 12 teams:
- West Virginia: No. 4 seed, Region 3 (Fort Worth)
- Baylor: No. 6 seed, Region 2 (Sacramento)
- Texas Tech: No. 7 seed, Region 2 (Sacramento)
- Oklahoma State: No. 8 seed, Region 2 (Sacramento)
- Colorado: No. 10 seed, Region 1 (Fort Worth)
- Arizona State: First-Four participant against Virginia for a No. 10 seed in Region 4
