TCU Football enjoyed a successful early-signing day on Wednesday, December 3, with a first wave of 22 signees for the class of 2026.
The group consists of 19 high-schoolers, one junior-college
tight end and an offensive lineman from the transfer portal.
The Frogs inked four four-star prospects, according to the 247 Sports composite
rankings, and were the only Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) program in Texas to
bring in all of its high school signees from Texas high schools.
"Texas is going to be our base when it comes to recruiting," said TCU head football coach Sonny Dykes. "I think we all agree that Texas has the best high school football, Texas has the best investment in high school football players from the coaching standpoint, from the facilities, from the resources. We just believe in the Texas high school coaches and the job they do developing these players and teaching them great culture. So many of these kids come from winning programs that a number of these guys are still in state playoffs."
Seventeen of TCU's 20 high school signees come from playoff-participant programs, and 18 of them were multi-sport athletes.
TCU signed 13 players for the offensive side of the ball,
eight on defense and one specialist. Of particular highlight for Dykes was the
size and length of the offensive and defensive linemen.
"The lines are where your programs are built. Particularly in the way you
have to build them in today's world," Dykes added. "Those guys are a
premium. There's just not that many big people who can do what those guys can
do, so we like to sign a big group of those guys to bring them here and develop
them. We're excited about the young linemen we've signed on both sides of the
ball in the last three recruiting classes. We think that's going to be the
strength of our team moving forward because they've come in here and gotten
bigger and stronger."
Out of the portal, TCU added Oklahoma State-transfer lineman Noah McKinney who
entered prior to rule changes dictating the transfer portal window runs from
January 2-16, a period in which TCU expects to be actively involved.
