Sixth and Final 2025 College Football Playoff Ranking: Indiana is No. 1

Indiana tops the final College Football Playoff teams for the 2025 season. Here are the 12 teams that will be playing for the national championship:

  1. Indiana
  2. Ohio State
  3. Georgia
  4. Texas Tech
  5. Oregon
  6. Ole Miss
  7. Texas A&M
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Alabama
  10. Miami
  11. Tulane
  12. James Madison

The 12-team field includes five automatic spots for conference champions and seven at-large spots. 

The top four teams get first-round byes to the quarterfinals. Those teams will play in the Cotton (December 31), Orange (January 1), Rose (January 1) and Sugar (December 31) bowls. Teams seeded 5-8 host seeds 9-12 on December 19-20.  

Here is the playoff schedule:

  • December 19: Oklahoma hosts Alabama
  • December 20: Texas A&M hosts Miami
  • December 20: at Ole Miss hosts Tulane
  • December 20: Oregon hosts James Madison
  • Cotton Bowl (quarterfinal game), December 31: Ohio State vs. Texas A&M/Miami winner
  • Orange Bowl (quarterfinal game), January 1, 2026: Texas Tech vs. Oregon/James Madison winner
  • Rose Bowl (quarterfinal game), January 1, 2026: Indiana vs. Alabama/Oklahoma winner
  • Sugar Bowl (quarterfinal game), January 1, 2026: Georgia vs. Ole Miss/Tulane winner
  • Fiesta Bowl (semifinal game), January 8, 2026: TBD
  • Peach Bowl (semifinal game), January 9, 2026: TBD
  • National Championship Game, January 19, 2026: TBD
