TCU Women's Basketball Wins 2024-25 Big 12 Regular-Season Championship

The 10th-ranked TCU women's basketball team on Sunday, March 2, overcame one of their worst offensive games of the season to defeat 17th-ranked Baylor 51-48 in Waco to win the program's first Big 12 regular-season championship.

The teams came into the game tied for the league lead with 15-2 Big 12 records.

TCU finished the regular-season 16-2 in the Big 12, 28-3 overall.

Two years ago, TCU was just 1-17 in the Big 12.

Baylor finished the regular-season 15-3 in the Big 12, 25-6 overall.

By winning the regular-season, TCU earned the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 women's basketball tournament, which is March 5-9, in Kansas City, Missouri.

TCU also will be playing in the NCAA women's basketball tournament, which is March 21-April 6. The Frogs should be rewarded with a low seed and two home games in the first two rounds of the tournament.

TCU and Baylor, in a previous season, are the only two active members of the Big 12 Conference to finish a regular-season with 16 wins in league play.

This was TCU's second victory of the season over Baylor. On January 26, in Fort Worth, TCU ended a 37-game losing streak to Baylor with an 80-75 victory.

TCU became one of only three teams since 2011 to sweep a regular-season series with Baylor and this is only the second time TCU has won consecutive games over the Bears and first since 1990.

With the win over the Bears, the Horned Frogs upset the balance of power across the Big 12. Baylor had claimed 13 of the last 19 regular season championships.

TCU became the 11th program in the history of the Big 12 to win a regular season women's basketball championship.

TCU also became just the second team in Big 12 Conference history to win a regular season championship within two seasons of finishing in last place. Kansas State won the 2008 Big 12 regular-season title after finishing in the cellar the previous season.

The Big 12 title is the Horned Frogs' first regular-season or tournament championship on the hardwood in 20 seasons. The Horned Frogs have won three other regular-season conference championships in their 48-season history, most recently the 2012 Mountain West Conference Championship.

This championship is the 15th regular-season conference championship in TCU men's or women's basketball history and first since the 2005 women's team claimed the crown in the Conference USA.

TCU's seniors carried the Horned Frogs to the 2024-25 Big 12 women's basketball regular season championship. They are (from left to right, with head coach Mark Campbell): Deasia Merrill (#3), DaiJa Turner (#24), Una Jovanovic (#5), Agnes Emma-Nnopu (#21), Madison Conner (#2), Hailey Van Lith (#10) and Sedona Prince (#13).
