Eight TCU Football Players Receive 2021 All-Big 12 recognition

Eight TCU football players have received All-Big 12 recognition, including cornerback Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson and wide receiver Quentin Johnston, who received first-team honors. 

Hodges-Tomlinson also was Honorable Mention Defensive Player of the Year.

Johnston also was  Honorable Mention Offensive Player of the Year.

Center Steve Avila, returner/wide receiver Derius Davis and defensive end Ochaun Mathis were second-team selections. 

Davis also was Honorable Mention Special Teams Player of hte Year.

Wide receiver Taye Barber and defensive end Dylan Horton were honorable mention selections.

Offensive tackle Obinna Eze was Honorable-Mention Offensive Newcomer of the Year.

Hodges-Tomlinson is First-Team All-Big 12 for the second straight season. He had a team-best seven pass breakups and two forced fumbles and tied for the TCU lead with two interceptions, including one returned 29 yards for a touchdown at Texas Tech. He was sixth on the team with 43 tackles.

Johnston had 33 catches and led TCU with 634 yards receiving, six touchdowns and 19.2 yards per reception, which placed second in the Big 12. Johnston topped 100 yards receiving in three of his last five games. He had career-best totals of seven receptions for 185 yards and three touchdowns at Oklahoma. The 185 yards receiving were the most by a Horned Frog since 2016, and he was the first TCU player with three touchdown catches in a game since 2015.

Oklahoma head football coach Mike Gundy was named Big 12 Coach of the Year.

Iowa State running back Breece Hall was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.

Oklahoma State running back Jaylen Warren was named Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year.

University of Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy was named Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year.

Baylor offensive tackler Connor Galvin was named Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Baylor defensive back Jalen Pitre was recognized as Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

Baylor defensive tackle Siaki Ika captured the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year award.

Baylor running back/returner Trestan Ebner was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year. 

Kansas State defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah and Iowa State defensive end Will McDonald IV were named Big 12 Co-Defensive Linemen of the Year.
