TCU's captains for the game against Oklahoma were (from left to right) quarterback Max Duggan (#15), center Steve Avila (#79), defensive end Ochuan Mathis (#32) and linebacker Dee Winers (#13).

Oklahoma ended its week-long starting quarterback controversy by announcing via the scoreboard that true freshman Caleb Williams (#13) would start against TCU, rather than former starting quarterback Spencer Rattler (#7), whom Williams replaced in the Sooners' 55-48 comeback win over Texas on October 9. When Williams was announced as the starting quarterback, there was a large roar throughout Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. There now is speculation as to how quickly Rattler will enter the transfer portal, and where he next will be playing football.

Oklahoma true freshman quarterback Caleb Williams (#13) and Oklahoma junior running back Kennedy Brooks (#13) were a duo that was too tough to handle for the Horned Frogs' defense in Oklahoma's 52-31 victory. Williams, making the first start of his career, accounted for 361 total yards and five touchdowns. Brooks accounted for 153 rushing yards and one touchdown. Williams' performance earned him Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors. It was Williams' second consecutive Big 12 weekly award. His play against Texas the week before, earned him Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors.

Oklahoma tight end/H-back Jeremiah Hall (#27) catches a 17-yard touchdown pass from Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams in the first quarter against TCU. The touchdown catch was Hall's only reception in the game.

Oklahoma running back Eric Gray (#0) scored Oklahoma's final touchdown against the Frogs on a two-yard run with 1:09 left in the game. Gray had six carries for 11 yards in the game.

In the Sooners' win over TCU, Oklahoma wide receiver Michael Woods II (#8) catches a 59-yard pass, as TCU linebacker Jamoi Hodge (#6), safety Nook Bradford (#28), defensive tackle Corey Bethley (#94), cornerback C.J. Ceasar II (#9) and defensive end Dylan Horton (#98) try to catch him. Woods caught three passes for 75 yards.

TCU offensive coordinator Doug Meacham's (purple cap) offensive game plan and play-calling in the game against Oklahoma netted the Horned Frogs 529 total yards, four more yards than the Sooners' offense netted.

Against Oklahoma, TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston (#1)) had career-high totals of seven receptions, 185 yards and three touchdowns. Johnston's scoring grabs were from 20, 75 and 25 yards, giving him a team-best five on the season and seven in his career. The seven touchdown catches top all current Horned Frogs. Johnston's 75-yard touchdown reception was TCU's longest since his 76-yard scoring grab against Louisiana Tech in the 2020 season finale. Johnston's 185 yards receiving were the most by a Horned Frog since Taj Williams had 210 receiving yards versus Oklahoma in 2016. Johnston is the first Horned Frog with three touchdown catches in a game since KaVontae Turpin had four against Texas in 2015. Johnston posted his third career 100-yard receiving game, tops among current TCU players.

(photos above and below) TCU running back Kendre Miller (#33) in the Oklahoma game rushed 15 times for 55 yards. He also caught four passes, including a 53-yard touchdown catch. It was his first receiving score of his career. Miller's four receptions equaled his career total entering the game.

Carter (#7), allowed Oklahoma to roll up 525 yards; 295 yards through the air and 230 yards on the ground. Carter had nine tackles to lead TCU for the second consecutive game. Bradford placed, with eight tackles. Bradford's career-high of 13 stops came at Oklahoma in 2019.

TCU defensive end Ochuan Mathis (#32) sacks Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams (#13). Mathis had two sacks against the Sooners. It was the fifth multi-sack game of his career. Mathis is the second Horned Frog with multiple sacks in a game this season, joining defensive end Dylan Horton, against Texas. Mathis has 14.5 career sacks, which are the most among current Horned Frogs.

TCU safety T. J. Carter (#7) denies Oklahoma wide receiver Marvin Mims (#17) of a reception. Against the Frogs, Mims, of Frisco, Texas, had two catches for 56 yards. Watching the play was defensive end Khari Coleman (#11), who made his first start of the season.

TCU defenders Keontae Jenkins (#23), Terrell Cooper (#95), T.J. Carter (#7) and Ochaun Mathis (#32) hold Oklahoma tight end/H-back Brayden Willis (#9), of Arlington, Texas, to minimal yardage after a pass reception.
