TCU Football Ranked 16th in 2023 Preseason USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll

The TCU football team is ranked 16th in the 2023 preseason USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll. 

Georgia, who defeated the Horned Frogs, 65-7, in the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Game, is ranked first. 

Michigan, whom TCU defeated 51-45 in the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Semifinal Game in the Fiesta Bowl, is ranked second.

Ranked 12th, the University of Texas is the highest-ranked Big 12 team. This is the Longhorns' final season in the Big 12. UT, along with the Big 12's University of Oklahoma, which is ranked 19th, joins the Southeastern Conference in 2024.

Kansas State, who defeated TCU, 31-28 (OT), in the 2022 Big 12 Championship Game, is ranked 17th.

Texas Tech, ranked 24th, is the only other Big 12 team ranked in the top 25.

Texas A&M is at the bottom of the top 25 poll, ranked 25th.

Big 12 Conference members Baylor, Oklahoma State, Houston, BYU and Kansas are among a group of other schools receiving votes.

The USA TODAY Sports AFCA football coaches poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of 63 head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools. The panel is chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.
