The 2019 TCU football season will begin
as planned on August 31 and proceed as usual, but it won’t be accompanied by
the $100-million East side expansion of Amon G. Carter Stadium.
Because of continued construction delays, the expansion will not be used for football until the 2020 season-opener, according to a recent announcement by TCU Athletic Director Jeremiah Donati.
Until Donati’s latest announcement, it was thought that the new club seats, suites and boxes would be ready by the October 26 game against Texas, after initial delays made availability for the opening game impossible. But despite everyone’s best efforts, it was not to be.
The delay will affect approximately 2,000 fans, who will be relocated to other areas of the stadium for the 2019 season.
The new video board that will be above the north end zone will be ready for the Frogs’ season-opener, against Arkansas Pine Bluff, on August 31. Additionally, Donati announced that he soon will be sharing exciting upgrades to the game-day experience.
